چکیده
Abstract Human beta defensins (hBDs) may play an important role in the progression of lichen sclerosus (LS), due to their ability induce excessive stimulation extracellular matrix synthesis and fibroblast activation. The genetic individual produce defensins, presence microbes influencing defensin production, sensitivity together regulate formation ever-changing balance between levels microbiome composition. We investigated potential differences postmenopausal vaginal composition hBD LS patients compared non-LS controls. exhibited significantly lower hBD1 ( p = 0.0003), higher hBD2 0.0359) hBD3 0.0002), control group. was dominated by possibly harmful bacteria including Lactobacillus iners, Streptococcus anginosus or Gardnerella vaginalis known initiate direct indirect damage increasing level production. Our observations highlight that correcting be applicable supplementary therapy targeting restoration beneficial flora does not increase hBD2-3

Vaginal Microbiome and Epithelial Gene Array in Post-Menopausal Women with Moderate to Severe Dryness
After menopause, many women experience vaginal dryness and atrophy of tissue, often attributed to the loss of estrogen. An understudied aspect of vaginal health in women who experience dryness due to atrophy is the role of the resident microbes. It is known that the microbiota has an important role in healthy vaginal homeostasis, including maintaining the pH balance and excluding pathogens. The...
متن کاملVaginal lichen sclerosus: report of two cases
Background Lichen sclerosus most commonly affects the genital area. Contrarily to lichen planus, the involvement of the oral or vaginal mucosa is rare. Only four cases of vaginal lichen sclerosus have been described in the literature. Case report The authors report two cases of postmenopausal women with a history of vulvar pruritus and burning. Both presented with lesions of the vaginal mucos...
متن کاملVulvar lichen sclerosus: 11 women treated with tacrolimus 0.1% ointment.
Lichen sclerosus is a chronic relapsing disease, usually treated with ultra-potent corticosteroids. As immunological alterations are considered important aetiopathogenetic factors in lichen sclerosus, the new immunomodulating topical agents, such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus, have been employed sporadically as alternative therapies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effect...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the correlation of fasting serum leptin levels with anthropometric measurements and menopausal status, in women. METHODS The study comprised of 80 non-obese women who were divided into 2 groups as pre-menopausal (n=46) and post-menopausal (n=34). Anthropometric measurements i.e. height, weight, waist and hip circumference were measured for all the subjects and the Waist-...

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic benign inflammatory disorder of skin and mucosa which affects patients of all age groups, sex and race, particularly caucasian prepubertal girls and postmenopausal women. The etiology of LS is unknown, but it has been suggested that genetic predisposition to inflammatory disorders, immunological constitutions, hormonal influences and local factors might play a...
